Description: As featured in SPP Plan Making Interactive Mapping at http://www.statedevelopment.qld.gov.au/about-planning/spp-mapping-online-system.html. This dataset is used to show areas that require protection for sustainable agriculture under the State Planning Policy (SPP).The local planning instrument is to appropriately integrate the state interest by: protecting Agricultural Land Classification (ALC) Class A and Class B land for sustainable agricultural use by:avoiding fragmentation of ALC Class A or Class B land into lot sizes inconsistent with the current or potential use of the land for agriculture, and avoiding locating non-agricultural development on or adjacent to ALC Class A or Class B land, and maintaining or enhancing land condition and the biophysical resources underpinning ALC Class A or Class B land.'A' class land is suitable for a wide range of current and potential crops with nil to moderate limitations to production. 'B' class land is suitable for a narrow range of current and potential crops and is marginal for current and potential crops due to severe limitations but is highly suitable for pastures. Land may be suitable for cropping with engineering and/or agronomic improvements. Attributes: ALC - the original ALC as shown in the corresponding Land Resource project, Project - shows the Land Resource project code that the ALC came from, ALC Audit - the ALC as used in the DAFF Agricultural Land Audit. For the purposes of the land audit polygons that were allocated more than one ALC e.g. A/C1 were given the higher class. ALC was also simplified to A,B,C,D instead of using the sub classes A1, A2 etc. Descriptor - a brief explanation of the ALC.Refer to the Agricultural Land Audit technical report for further information: http://www.daff.qld.gov.au/environment/queensland-agricultural-land-auditFor the purposes of the SPP online mapping tool urban areas have been removed from this dataset. This is the complete version of the dataset. This will include some urban areas although for South East Queensland urban areas have generally been classified as D class 'non-agricultural land'.Refer to http://www.qld.gov.au/environment/land/soil/ for more information about land resource studies. Refer to http://www.qld.gov.au/environment/land/soil/soil-data/land-evaluation/ for a full explanation of Agricultural Land Classes.
